Notice to Property Owners:

You are required to report any changes to your property to the Assessor’s Office by February 15th of every year.  These changes need to be reported directly to our office.  Obtaining a building or demo permit from the city you live in or from the County Engineer WILL NOT FULFILL THIS REQUIREMENT.  If the city you live in requires you to demolish a structure, simply doing so does not alert this office that you have made changes.  YOU MUST CONTACT OUR OFFICE EITHER IN PERSON OR BY PHONE TO REPORT YOUR CHANGES.  We have specific information we must collect from you in order to ensure our property information is correct and in most cases we will need to perform a visual inspection of the property to update our records, take a new photo, etc.  Thank you for your cooperation.

*Changes reported from now until February 15th, 2013 will be for the 2013 assessment year, taxes payable September 2014/March 2015.  Taxes are paid 12 and 18 months following the assessment year the changes are effective for in the state of Iowa.
