It is the Treasurer’s duty to collect all taxes certified by the County Auditor for which the Auditor delivers tax list of the various districts to the Treasurer. The Treasurer also collects Excise tax as directed by the Department of Revenue. All unpaid real estate tax is carried forward on the new books against the delinquent property. Unpaid personal tax is carried forward to Delinquent Personal books. All special assessments shall be indexed on the new books.

The first half of property tax is due by September 30th of each year. Late interest will accrue beginning October 1st, unless the last day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, then taxes become delinquent the second business day of October.

The second half of property tax is due by March 31st of each year. Late interest will accrue beginning April 1st, unless the last day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, then taxes become delinquent the second business day of April.

Penalty accrues at 1.5 percent interest, per month, rounded to the nearest dollar, per parcel.

Personal tax is subject to the same penalty dates and penalty rates.

Taxes collected shall be segregated as to Taxing District and the amount so collected shall be apportioned to the various schools, townships, town corporations, state and county funds. Vouchers are then mailed to them showing the amount to be placed in their various funds according to their levies.

Tax Sale - The Treasurer is obligated after May 1st, of each year to advertise all property on which there is any unpaid tax and offer same for sale the third Monday of June.

The Treasurer administers disabled/senior citizens property tax credit program.
