Veterans Affairs Director/Administrator of Veterans Affairs

The Veterans Affairs office is taking applications for the position of Veterans Affairs Director/Administrator of Veterans Affairs.  This is a full time job with a benefit package.  Computer and clerical skills are required.  Applicants must comply with the provisions of Chapter 35B of the Code of Iowa.

Purpose of Position:
Under general administrative direction of the Mahaska County Commission of Veterans Affairs, oversees and administers office operations including implementation of the County Ordinance of the Mahaska County Veterans Affairs.  Directs and coordinates Veteran assistance programs throughout Mahaska County in accordance with Chapter 35B of the Code of Iowa.  Assist Veterans and/or their eligible dependents in securing local, state, and federal benefits resulting from eligible service in the United States Armed Forces.  Provides outreach services to Veterans and serves as a Veteran advocate in the community.

Mahaska County Jailer part-time

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s office is taking applications for the position of jailer.  This is a part-time position.

Requirements:

  • High school education
  • Must be of good moral character

Work hours:

  • Work hours will be 8 ½ hour shifts
  • Shifts rotate every 3 months
  • Will work some weekends and holidays
    • If working holiday you will be paid 2 ½ times

Applicants must submit to a MMPI (physiological test), physical and drug test.  Background checks which includes criminal history check will be completed.  Starting wage will be $11 per hour.
